Recently, we received a call from a homeowner on the West Coast of Florida who had discovered mold in his office. He assumed the mold resulted from a previous roof leak. We receive these types of calls all the time. However, what was different about this one, was that the owner had quite a collection of historical paraphernalia. This included signed documents from important historical figures and original photographs that were over 100 years old.

Of course, the owner was extremely concerned about how both the mold and the mold remediation would impact his prized possessions. We encouraged him to remove some of his most valuable pieces that could be easily moved. And assured him that the rest would be protected and handled with great care throughout the mold remediation process.

Containment was set up at the entrance to the office, which also cordoned off a bathroom and closet to ensure that the mold did not spread to any other parts of the house. Plastic sheeting and other means of preservation were utilized to ensure that the valuables were protected from dust or any other debris during necessary drywall removal etc.

In the end, Joe Taylor Restoration saw to it that the mold was eradicated and the homeowner’s belongings were safeguarded. The homeowner never expected the situation with his valuables and mold remediation to go so smoothly.
